Mudgee Bushwalking & Bike Riding Club is an outdoor activity based in the Central West of NSW. ‘Nest in the Hills’
The club was formed over 30 years ago (1991), and affiliated with Bushwalking NSW
Activities conducted are naturally outdoors, adventurous and range in guided walks with fire trails to bush-bashing, with walks from introductory day walks to multi day trips. These activities are club graded from Easy/Med/Hard to incorporate all walking abilities. We are fortunate to have club members who are experienced and have extensive outdoor and bush tactics and stories to pass on.
There is a motivated committee whom assist in the day-to-day running of the club but the organisation is very much a shared responsibility. Most riders also walk, but it doesn’t necessarily happen in reverse. About 60% do both activities.
As the bike riding came later and is now an integral part of the program. The club currently has over 80 members with several inaugural and Life Members. Annual adult membership is $25. Junior membership $5 (all junior members are to be accompanied by an adult member on all activities).
Members/committee volunteer to organise events for the coming program in advance. be it walks, rides or camping weekends. There will be something to do during many weekends – the Sunday’s on 2nd and 4th month are held for an activity. Additional and multiday walks inclusive.
Riders also meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in Mudgee and on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in Kandos/Rylstone.
Many walks are relatively local, but some venture further afield. Longer bike rides are ably supported by non-biking members who provide back-up vehicles. Members come from across the whole district as far north as the Totnes Valley and, in the south, from Rylstone and Kandos, Gulgong and Dunedoo. Hopefully there is always a good balance of locations for both walks and rides. Where possible, and if preferred car sharing helps with the economic use of transport.
There is no expectation for members to attend all events. People join in as they are able. The aim is to provide a program of events which is all inclusive. On occasions some members may be taken out of their comfort zone through a more challenging walk or ride. This is made possible by the brilliant support and encouragement of other more confident participants.
So, if you are interested in outdoor adventures being either walks or bike riding this is the club for you.
