Date: Megalong Valley on Sunday 15th May 2022 An early start for this group meeting at Lovejoy street carpark at 6.00am, whilst a light sprinkle of rain travelling with the group to the Megalong Valley. A good start with 10 keen members to reach the Suspension Bridge. Although 2 wise ones enjoyed the spot & view from “Ron’s roost” – just a few km’s shy of the suspension bridge.
More walk details: The walk is part of the 6ft Foot track. Today’s walk was a section of the track to Coxes river and to Bowtells suspension bridge – 9km one way along a well-formed track. Grade: Moderate – Subject to the weather and temperature.
A nice early start but a rewarding walk. (we were promised)! Drive to Blackheath & then to Megalong Valley Cemetery historic site area for morning tea. Walk ready by 9.00am. Plan was to walk to the Coxes river camp (camp site across the river), however the suspension bridge was a thrill enough for them. Completed walk around 3:30pm. A huge thank you to the leader is Eric Caswell. I think he said we were to walk this one “rain hail & shine”. We all were rewarded with the autumn colours & green pastures and no rain rain. Well done to all participants; Eric, Brian, Karen, Victoria, Gretha & Ole, Bill & Trish, John & Joby.
