Where’s Mt Knowles they asked? We all know about Mt Frome nestled within the reach of Mudgee with an elevation of (556m / 1857 feet) however did you know; Mt Knowles (592m / 1942 feet) and is definitely nearby as members found out on this walk. 22 Participants did this epic day walk to Mt Knowles and returned!!! safely. Distance walked: approx. 12km. This walk was graded as “Difficult” due to the terrain and members capabilities.
Report: Victoria McAdam – “A cool but sunny day…perfect for a bush bash with 22 happy people led by Eric, Karen, Feroz, Wayne. (Bill K was MIA however Bill & Joby had the tracking on….). A big thank you to the land owners Robin Page and his daughter Rhiannon. This walk was rated as a difficult walk for good reason but very rewarding with stunning views across the Lue road, Spring Flat and off to Mt Misery in the distance, clear skies. Once again laughter rang into the hills. (I think I listen for it.) A few scrapes and bruises but otherwise a good day was had by all. (7) hours later !!! thank you to everyone who came along and enjoyed this day”
Note: access to Mt Knowles area is via several private properties. Thank you to those landholders and to walk leader of the day. R Page & Co. It is a privilege to be able to be able to plan a reccy and a club activity for members to enjoy.
