Notwithstanding that it promised to be a hot day and with bushfire smoke hanging over the valley it did not deter members meeting at Lovejoy Street for our first walk in 2018.
New members Ann Burges and Jenny McNaughton joined us for the walk and to discover Dunns Swamp. Both ladies are new to Mudgee.
We departed at 8.15am, met up with more members at Rylstone Hospital and drove to Dunns Swamp where we had morning tea before we set out on the 5.5km walk to the weir.
Jo and Sheila Doyle had camped overnight at Dunns Swamp, David Schultz turned up to say hello, stayed and walked with the group. And to everyone’s delight one of our life member’s Bill Wirth joined us as well. And it was great to see Bill.
Ivy and Neville Higgs had brought their Kayak and some of us either had a paddle or had a swim. The water cooled us down and we enjoyed our lunch. Some more swimming and kayaking after lunch and then it was time to pack up and head to Rylstone Café 47 for a well-deserved coffee. All of us enjoyed the day and it was great to be walking again. So sorry we missed Joby who could not join us today.
