Meet/time: 7:00am, Lovejoy Street carpark (Douro Street entrance). What to bring: Recommend walking poles, hiking boots, gloves, gaiters, beanies, water, food, tent etc.,
Essential: Club Equipment will be utilised and delegated at briefing prior to walk. Eric confirmed that NPWS advise ‘Pipeline Track is currently open’. Newnes camping ground is being upgraded.
The Pipeline Track connects the historic towns of Glen Davis in the Capertee Valley, to Newnes in the Wolgan valley, following the route of an old pipeline that linked two shale refinery sites. The track traverses the typical rugged, sandstone cliff country of the Wollemi area, with great views of the Wolgan and Capertee valleys. It’s worth taking the short detour to the Pagoda Lookout, which has some of the best views of the walk.
