What a great day for bush walking. After morning tea at Castle Rock car park we set off with a group of 15. It was good to see some new faces and a family of five sure made up the numbers. The track, which is an easy walk and sheltered by bush, got us to the rock in no time at all. While we could hear the Lyre birds we could not see any of these shy birds. We had two very fit bike riders amongst us, flying up and down the track on their bikes. Lunch was at the top of the rock with it’s wonderful views – not too much wind this time and very pleasant to sit and chat.

It was suggested we walked through shrub to the rock with the windows which lead us back to the trail. Further along we followed the fire trail to the spiral. On the way we met a lizard that was soaking up the warmth of the sun. Once there most of us climbed the spiral and enjoyed the view from  there. I think the ” kids ” had a lot of fun climbing and playing. Back to the main trail and our cars. I am convinced that the return trail is twice as long as the way in. We deserved a bit of a rest before getting in our cars for the drive home .
