Sunday 16th June 2013: Charity Bike Ride Cooyal to Gulgong and return

Leaders: John & Sue Snape & Ross Kurtz

Report and photos by Joby Mitchell

Twenty five riders braved the ‘winter warmth’ – cool head-wind with sunshine !

After Tea/Coffee & scones at the premises of the Cooyal Hotel verandah these brave cyclists (members & visitors) followed the map given out by local lad Ross Kurtz. A leisurely ride past the old Cooyal Post Office and through the Cooyal Creek (yes it had water it in) and via Linburn Lane, Ulan Road, Mud Hut Creek Road, Yarrawonga Road and Spring Creek Road into Gulgong (good to have the map Ross), a superb lunch of soup or lasagne and a nice cup of tea was on the menu at the Commercial Hotel in Gulgong. This was enough time for the bikes to rest and then head back to Cooyal via Henry Lawson Drive & Mud Hut Creek to Cooyal Hotel for a refreshment of choosing and prawns and mini spring rolls and mini quiche’s. Some cyclists were rewarded with a lucky prize draw! While others content with their ride of 68 km.

The ride was a fundraiser in aid of the Royal Flying Doctors Service. A raffle was drawn at the Commercial Hotel.
