Twenty six walkers celebrated 20 years of Bushwalking by sharing Castle Rocks. Members of the public were invited to join in and several groups were seen and passed along the way.
While enjoying the views from the top of the ‘Castle Rocks’ the majority had their lunch while others were content to mind the lower portion of rock and enjoy the flora & fauna.
Joby was determined to get a ‘landscape’ picture not portrait as per previous pictures, so John took the camera and led a group through the bush for viewing of rock formations; ‘Mr Rock Face’ and the ‘sandstone cave with pillar’, they also observed a large nest perhaps eagles above the sandstone cave formation. Others walkers waited patiently on track and ate jellybeans – 9 others headed for car park while remaining group took the fire track to the left (if entering from car park) to a large rock formation for another adventure.
Location: Munghorn Gap Nature Reserve, part of the Great Dividing Range and 35km from Mudgee, this is a particularly important place for the Wiradjuri people. It has 164 recorded species of birds, including the endangered regent honeyeater. The Castle Rock walking track offers an easywalk , with stunning views from the Sandstone ‘pagoda’ rock formations at the end of the track.
