Tasmania – Three Capes Walk (over 4 days 25-28 September 2019) with 7 members participating- walking distance – only 48klm’s!!!.
Description: Seven members wore the club’s colours!
Ready for the challenge: Eric Caswell, Elly Rands, Jenny Macnaughton, Sof Lee, Alex Carynny, Karen Riley and Johanna (Joby) Mitchell.
DAY 1: (notes from Sof Lee) “We stayed at this camp overnight. These are pre manufactured modern units, brought in by helicopters. There’s a helipad for the flying machines to pickup stuff like removable/decomposing toilets, gas bottles, etc and delivery of supplies. The units were full last night, 48 people. Credit to Tasmania government, a flurry of economic activities that flow to local community are impressive, demonstrating that there are many ways to achieve things, perhaps a lesson for other region like Mudgee. The proceeds also go to conservation projects”.
Wildflower’s everywhere – great time of year to visit. Karen captured/photographed all the wildflowers with great enthusiasm.
Now the views you have all been waiting for:
DAY 4- begins, (another early morning)! time for a quick photo with the Ranger from Retakunna Cabin (pictured in red- Donna-lea).
We made it!! Now for the celebratory dinner!
This groups adventure started on the 23/9/19. After touring the Hobart botanical gardens and visit to Mt Wellington we were ready for the 25/9/19-Port Arthur historic site this is where after a scenic boat ride delivered us to the start of the track. The Three Capes is a well crafted track, where we were able to take on the surroundings an experience the views without watching our feet!
Members had promised to send an update each day and Karen and Sof did not disappoint us there (check out the facebook page)!
Walk Leader: Eric Caswell (thank you)!
