Explore the “Nest in the Hills” AVISFORD RESERVE, MUDGEE –Done
This was the first Official Walk back after “our break”
A local walk to avoid carpooling. Done. After assembling at the meeting spot, (old Reservoir Road, 8:30am Redbank Dam/Avisford Reserve). President (Joby) welcomed new members and visitors and introduced the leader Graham Pound. So with formalities out of the way and after visiting the site of the former Redbank Dam (interpretive signage states it was constructed in 1899), Graham took the lead; with 29 participants up a few hills and down a few hills to stretch those legs, several walk options were on hand today: however the option to reach the top teased everyone !
An Option, was walk up to and beyond the “locked gate” rest & return (Total 3 hrs) but the view convinced them to continue on and walk “up” to Mt Misery via a bush trail and then dirt road, lunch with a view was promised and did not disappoint (overlooking Mudgee) and return the same way. (approx time Total 4hrs). Thank you to Graham for leading the way. Any idea why its called “Mt Misery” would welcome your feedback.
Our next July walk is on Sunday 19th July 2020– Munghorn Nature Reserve – Castle Rock, and invitation for the bike riders to join in for Morning Tea. (their start and finish)-their choice. At this activity the club is entering its 30th Anniversary of The Mudgee Bushwalking Club Inc.
More details will follow for the Munghorn walk/ride via email to current members.
