Well it certainly was time to “dust” off the walking boots for a walk at Ferntree Gully: Sunday 7th February 2021. (23 members & visitors arrived on the day).
The Leader’s Brief: “Ferntree Gully is located on the Bylong Valley Road (17km from Rylstone towards Bylong) and is clearly sign posted. It will be a walk of discovery to find out how the bushland is recovering from the fires of 2019/2020. Our last visit to Ferntree Gully as a club was April 2017. This walk is a great walk for our new members, and a refresher for others.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service and the volunteers have done the work to make the track down the gully safe. It is a relatively easy walk down the gully and a little harder going back to the top with lots of steps. (But we did it in reverse so no nasty multiple steps). The additional little loop “Peppermint Trail” ( 2.2km walk) were for those interested, and completed by 18 members.
The walk: to enjoy yourself, it is not a race – Walk to your own capabilities”. Thank you to the Leaders: Jenny Macnaughton and Sof Lee with Monique Unwin, Feroz Wani. (The new club walkie talkie’s trialed and proved a very useful tool for this occasion).
Time: We met at 8.00am Lovejoy Street Carpark, Mudgee for registration and carpooling, then at Ferntree Gully carpark at 9.00am, commenced the walk after a shared Morning Tea and after the walk all enjoyed a relaxing lunch.
