Walk: Glow Worm Tunnel – Newnes entrance Re-scheduled Date: Sunday, 14 November⋅7:30am – 4:00pm Description: Walk: Glow Worm Tunnel – Newnes Entrance (Two Options)!
Located within the heritage listed Wollemi National Park, the Glow Worm Tunnel area offers magnificent views of pagoda rock formations, extensive flora and wild life, including glow worms. The walk into the tunnel follows a disused railway line.
Depart Mudgee and drive to Newnes Village (about 2 hrs via Wolgan Road) have morning tea at the Former Newnes Hotel area.
Group A – The walk: 9km return. Grade: Medium. Bring a torch. Starting point is at an unmarked gateway and weir across the Wolgan River, some 6.5km south of the Newnes Hotel. Information signs posted along the track.
Group B – Explore at our leisure the historic Newnes village ruins.

Meet at 7.30am: Lovejoy Street (Douro End) car park for meet and greet, necessary paperwork, organise carpooling (allowed).
What to bring: Morning tea to share, water to drink, lunch to eat. What to wear: Suitable clothing, hat to wear, sturdy walking shoes and a pair of dry socks, walking poles (optional). To participate in the walk you need to have proof that you are double vaccinated.
