WALK: Local walk weekend: Members were invited to visit the Goulburn River National Park- area “The Drip” & “Hands on the Rock” (50klm from Mudgee).
Monique Unwin was the Leader for walk: Sunday 21/7/2019 and has forwarded a short report for members. “Hi Joby
Here is my short report of todays walk to the Drip. “The Drip” and “Hands on the Rock’
What more could we ask for but a beautiful sunny day. Blue skies and not a cloud in sight.
We set off from Lovejoy car park with 16 people. Who knows how we ended up with 18 at The Drip car park where we had morning tea. We had 15 members and 3 visitors. Elly did a great job filling out the attendance register. It is such a lovely walk along the sandstone formations on the Goulburn river.
Most of us went down to the river bed and admired the drawings ** on the rock on the opposite side.
At the end we clambered over some boulders and found a way to cross to the other side using a couple of rocks as stepping stones. A few took the opportunity to explore a bit of the other side. Back at the car park we stopped for lunch before driving to the “Hands on the Rock”.
Only a short walk and climb led to the Aboriginal Rock Art by the Wiradjuri Tribe.
This is an important part of a ceremonial area and has high cultural significance to it’s people. Everyone enjoyed the day in great company”.
