A Walk Report by Leader: Kim McCloughan.
“Where to start with this walk’s adventures. First up we were all up bright and early 8am, to meet and depart from Robertson Park in Mudgee before heading off to then re-gather again in the Queen Elizabeth Park in Lithgow for a shared morning tea. We then travelled to and via, state mine gully road to the Bungleboori campground which we then left the cars here before proceeding on foot along the 4wd drive track and YES it definitely is a well used 4wd drive track as we learnt on our walk, out to the lost city. We stopped to marvel at the views, have lunch and explore the area before proceeding back along the track we came, some of the keener walkers took on a little off road track with how should I put it a slight incline !!! with a lot of encouragement from each other we all happily made it to the top, we then merged back in with the group to continue our adventures back to our cars… Some of the highlight moments was, firstly getting to watch some incredible 4wd work in what looked to be a very difficult spot to get through with none of us getting a single drop of mud on us, to finding only two tiny pink flannel flowers left alive in amongst many withered ones, to the VERY not so good conversations happening through the 2way, Elly getting to hitch a ride back in a 4wd, The splendour of amazing views and bushland, but most important the enjoyment of having such great company… We want to thank those who joined us today immensely for coming out in a kinda cooler day to explore this terrific area we really do appreciate it, it’s been a lovely day…Kind regards Kim”
