Widden Valley – explore (Report)

Day Walk: Sunday 7 August 2022.

Widden Valley: 17 members Sunday 7 August: Day walkers (8 members) joined up with the campers & others that stayed at Bimbajah cottage (Widden Valley) with another 9 members, to enjoy a planned walk with Leader Eric Caswell. Just to note: the drive to meet the group was clocked up as a 2hr 45mins –(some) departing early ie 6:30am and dodging the potholes became a mammoth task due to the recent weather conditions between Mudgee & Bylong in particular.

Our lovely hosts had the kettle on and a shared Morning Tea & catch-up was in hand. As promised a picturesque walk along the Widden Valley ‘trail’;  the majority of the members walked a distance of 9 km while others completed a leisurely 6.5 km. Some members tested out their walkie talkie skills while others raised the bar by bringing their backpacks carrying approx. 8-12 kgs to suit an up & coming Tassie walk. Great work their team Tassie.

Gotta love the black angus cattle; cows & calves too cute to drive past. The area was hard to leave. The view of the large mountains and perfect pastured “manicured” paddocks were incredible.

To note: Members also arrived on Saturday to utilise the Bimbajah accommodation package and also to camp. They spent an afternoon of watching the creeks rise and fall and taking in all the scenery on offer. Sunday group joined them for the walk listed above. However on the Monday the weekenders tackled the large mountain behind the accommodation venue and walked for 6.5hrs of a distance through the bush and up & down the mountain for the spectacular views.

Before returning back to normality Tuesday.

Thank you Elly for making all the arrangements & sorry Lynne we weren’t able to catch up (this time)! Eric Caswell perfect location for a weekend break.
